Healthcare: Pacific Medical to Open new MOB in Pasadena, CA

About 40 miles west of Fontana in Pasadena, San Diego-based healthcare real estate developer Pacific Medical Buildings is getting ready to open a new medical office building (MOB) on the campus of Huntington Memorial Hospital.

Huntington is building an additional 190,000 square feet in medical office and outpatient services space for a women’s center, full-service oncology, imaging and an ambulatory surgery center at 625 Fair Oaks Ave. in Pasadena. Dubbed Huntington Pavilion, the expansion is the first new outpatient services building to be developed on the hospital’s campus in more than 20 years.

Being close to the hospital allows administrators to place outpatient services under one roof, said Bernadette Merlino, vice president of ambulatory service line development for Huntington Hospital.

The multi-level building is a combination of three- and four-story elements, featuring twin lobbies and a six-story, 700-space parking structure. Construction started in fall 2007 and the expected completion date is July 1.

Along with physician practices, the hospital is a major tenant in the building. The facility is currently 65% leased with an additional 15% under negotiation.
