Marinas: Major Progress For Marina Project In Clarksville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Clarksville broke ground about a month ago on a new $41 million marina project, and it’s already exceeding expectations.

Rainy weather may have delayed construction of the new park, but city officials said sales of boat slips for the new facility have been brisk.

Mayor Johnny Piper has proposed the facility be named Freedom Park and hopes it will be completed by next memorial weekend.

More than 80 percent of slips have been sold for the marina’s first section.

“I did not expect it to go that fast,” said Piper. “To say we’re almost sold out is unbelievable.”

The new marina and park will also include an amphitheater, dog park, fishing pond and pavilion.

“To see the earth being moved now – all these big tractors moving the dirt around and everything is very exciting. It just lets us know that it’s finally going to happen. We definitely are going to have a marina,” said boat slip owner Kevin Judish.
