A Scottsdale-based real-estate investment trust will spend $107 million to acquire 17 medical buildings on or near the campus of Banner Boswell and Banner Del E. Webb hospitals.
Healthcare Trust of America's deal with Roskamp Management Co. includes an option to purchase two more medical properties totaling about 60,000 square feet. The transaction is expected to close within 40 to 50 days.
The portfolio of medical-office buildings includes about 641,000 square feet of rentable space, according to Healthcare Trust's financial filings.
Healthcare Trust did not reveal the types of medical-office buildings included in the deal, and company executives did not return calls Tuesday.
Launched in 2006, Healthcare Trust is a publicly registered real-estate investment trust that has rapidly grown in recent months.
The company's portfolio of more than 6 million square feet mainly consists of medical offices, hospitals and skilled-nursing homes.
Surprise-based Roskamp Management owns several retirement communities in the northwest Valley, including Grandview Terrace, Sun Health Grandview Care Center, La Loma Village and the Colonnade.
Banner Health last year closed its $316 million purchase of the Boswell and Del E. Webb hospitals in Sun City and Sun City West. The two hospitals employ about 4,000 people and have more than 900 patient beds.
