Senior Housing: Trezevant Manor marks 6-year $120M campus expansion, renovation

The culmination of a six-year, $120 million renovation and construction project was celebrated Wednesday evening with a large party at Trezevant Manor.
The construction project included the addition of Trezevant Terrace, a 104-apartment unit for assisted living, Trezevant Place, a 68-apartment unit for independent living, and 28 “garden homes” for independent living.
Also, nearly every inch of the existing space on the sprawling Highland campus was renovated to make it appear “seamless between the new and the old.”
“With the renovation, we wanted to make it look the same when you go from one space to another, beautifully finished and elegant,” said Trezevant CEO John Webb. “We wanted to expand the campus to accommodate the demand out there and position Trezevant for the wave of the future.”
Trezevant Manor, the 11-story tower easily seen from Highland, was completely renovated, as was the campus’s formal dining area and all public spaces and hallways. The project also expanded the lobby and the library.
It also brought new amenities such as an indoor swimming pool, a new fitness center, a new chapel, a performing arts hall, a bistro and bar and two underground parking garages.
Adding more apartment units has made spaces available at Trezevant, something Webb called “unprecedented.” Once all the spots are filled, the retirement community will have 550 residents.
While Webb said those residents have enjoyed keeping up with the project — even with cocktail parties to watch the construction — he’s glad the project is wrapping up.
“It’s really an unbelievable feeling,” Webb said. The staff lived through it and have a better place to work and the residents are just thrilled.
