Senior Housing: National Church Residences lands HUD grants for senior housing

National Church Residences has been awarded $20.34 million in federal grants to build four affordable-housing projects for seniors.

The Columbus nonprofit, which owns or manages more than 320 affordable-housing facilities nationwide and in Puerto Rico, said the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development funding will help pay for 182 apartments in complexes in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Georgia and Texas.

The breakdown is as follows:

• $5.14 million for a project with 39 one-bedroom apartments in Bedford, Ohio.

• $5.12 million for another 39-unit, one-bedroom apartment complex in Penn Hills, Pa.

• $3.91 million for a project consisting of 35 one-bedroom apartments in Atlanta.

• $6.17 million for a 65-unit, one-bedroom apartment complex in Lubbock, Texas.
