Healthcare: WellStar plans $140M expansion, new Paulding hospital, 500 jobs

WellStar Health System Inc. expects to create about 500 jobs in an expansion that will include a new hospital at its Paulding County campus.
The nearly $140 million Paulding Health Park will include a new medical office building — the second on the 33-acre campus in Hiram, Ga.
Marietta-based WellStar, which fired its CEO, Gregory Simone, for undisclosed reasons Sept. 2, is undergoing a spending spree.
The health system expects to invest up to $800 million over the next decade as it broadens its physician and clinical services footprint. The investment — phased over three stages — includes the replacement hospital in Hiram and a $14 million outpatient campus in Acworth.
