Healthcare: Duke to add medical office at Good Samaritan

via Business Courier

Good Samaritan Medical Center at Western Ridge will soon get some company.

Duke Realty, based in Indianapolis, is developing a 29,700-square-foot medical office building on one of the four remaining plots of land adjacent to the Good Samaritan center. Two tenants — Wellington Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine and Tri-State Centers for Sight Inc. — already have signed on for most of the space, but some is still available.

“We have been very pleased with how quickly the Western Ridge campus has been embraced by providers and patients alike,” said Keith Konkoli, Duke Realty senior vice president for health care.

And yet more development is planned for the campus. Eventually it will include two more medical office buildings and a freestanding retail building, according to a Duke press release.

The one-story building, to be situated on about 4.1 acres at 6909 Good Samaritan Drive, is slated for completion in July. The architect is Cincinnati-based ATA Beilharz Architects and the general contractor is the Construction Group of Duke Realty.

The project reflects Duke Realty’s long-term strategy of growing the percentage of medical office buildings and industrial buildings in its portfolio while reducing the percentage of suburban office assets.

TriHealth opened its 47,000-square-foot Good Samaritan Medical Center at Western Ridge, near the Harrison/Rybolt exit off Interstate 74, on Sept. 7. It includes a 24-hour emergency department, as well as physician and other medical offices.
