A fitness center is among the tenants moving into a new business complex on Asheville Highway in Hendersonville.

Town Center, at 2560 Asheville Highway next to the Hunter Volvo-Subaru-Hyundai dealership, is comprised of two buildings.

One of the buildings is 14,000 square feet, and the other is just over 8,000 square feet, said Tim Murphy, a city planner.

The fitness center will be housed in the bigger building, with medical office space taking up the rest of it, Murphy said. The other building is designated for retail and professional office space so it has multiple uses.

“It’s going to be a really nice facility,” Rick Buchanan of Buchanan Construction, the Arden company in charge of the project, said Thursday. “There is space that could be used for restaurants or food service, and the rest is retail and professional office space. It has good accessibility from the road, and the center will be handicap accessible.”

The Hendersonville Planning Board approved the project in March 2009, and construction on the Town Center began in

August.

The business complex is scheduled for completion in April.
