MONTICELLO – Carle will build a new $5 million medical office building on the campus of the new Kirby Medical Center under construction in Monticello.

Carle and Kirby executives made a joint announcement this morning, saying the building will house Carle primary care providers. Lab and radiology services will be provided by Kirby Medical Center in its own building, said Stephanie Beever, a Carle vice president.

Construction on the Carle building is set to start in March, weather cooperating, and Carle hopes to move into the new building in late 2011.

Officials from Carle and Kirby said having Carle physicians next to the hospital will be more convenient for patients and provide new opportunities for expanded health care services in Piatt County.

The new and larger Kirby Medical Center off Interstate 72 is being built to replace the current John & Mary E. Kirby Hospital.
