Student Housing: New names and management for two student-housing complexes
By Meghan Lindner for Central Florida Future
As of Feb. 1, two off-campus student-housing complexes that primarily serve UCF are under new management and have undergone name changes.
The Pointe at Central, formerly Pegasus Pointe, and Knights Circle, formerly Pegasus Landing, are now under Asset Campus Housing management, based out of Houston.
“The new name doesn’t sound all that great to me,” said sophomore English major and Pointe resident Alise Vick, in an e-mail interview. “‘The Pointe at Central’ is kind of a mouthful. They could have come up with something a bit more catchy.”
College Park Management TRS Inc. formerly managed both complexes.
According to its website, Asset Campus Housing manages more than 30,000 student housing beds throughout the U.S.
An announcement, which was placed on the doors of residents in both complexes, said there would be new names, websites and logos for both of the communities. Rent payments can continue to be made to Pegasus Landing and Pegasus Pointe until further notice. Current lease agreements, rent amounts and security deposits made when signing a lease will not change for residents.
A Knights Circle staff member said if changes are made, residents will be notified three weeks in advance, but that all operations and payment methods are going to remain the same.
The announcement from Knights Circle states improvements and renovations will occur and inspections of apartment units have already started “to ensure quality and exceptional customer service.” Inspections will be done at the Pointe starting Feb. 3.
“It would be nice if there were some improvements, but I find it doubtful from a big company based in Texas,” Vick said.
A few buildings in Knights Circle are currently undergoing exterior renovations. In May, the complex had its affiliation with UCF suspended due to issues with mold and water intrusion.
The Pointe at Central is still affiliated with the university.
