Data Center: TVA Certifies Starwood for Data Center Development
The former Starwood Amphitheatre is prepared for a possible second life as a data center. Thursday the Tennessee Valley Authority announced the Starwood location in southeast Davidson County has been certified as suitable for massive servers and telecommunications equipment.
Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce CEO Ralph Schulz says speed-to-market is everything, especially with a tech company.
“It’s very important to have prepared sites because businesses want to move on those sites right away, without being encumbered by political activity, zoning activity, etc.”
TVA now has 14 pre-selected data center sites in its service area, including one in Murfreesboro and another in Tullahoma. Starwood is the only location eligible in Davidson County because of acreage requirements, not being in a flight path and utility needs.
